The temperature treatments in phytotron of Ixora williamsii cv. Sunkist plants indicated that the most suitable temperature for flower induciton was 20/15℃. Higher temperature (30/25℃) improved vegetative growth and inflorenscenses development. If the temperature was too tow (15/13℃), the plants would occur chilling injury and the inflorenscenes might abort. Plants treated with 20/15℃ for more than three months and then moved to 30/25℃ had mach mom inflorenscences bat had shorter flowering duration and fewer Carets of each inflorenscene than those continually growning in higher temperature (25/20℃or above). Plant shoots with higher maturity (Plants grown outdoors for 153 days after pruning.) formed much more inflorenscences than those with lower maturity (Plants instantly moved to phytotron after pruning.).
