The cross sections of 65 Cu (p,γ)^66 Zn and 65 Cu (p, n)^65 Zn reactions have been measured in the range of 1.25 MeV ≤ Elab ≤ 2.70 Mev. Gamma-rays and neutrons were detected by a Ge (Li) detector and a BF3 long counter, respectively. When the proton energy is greater than the (p, n) threshold, the (p, n) cross section increases rapidly, while the (p,γ) cross section drops by a factor of approximately 5. This cusp of (p,γ) cross sections shows a competition effect between (p,γ) and (p, n) reactions. Both reaction cross sections measured agreed well with those calculated using a statistical model program. Small resonances exist for the 65Cu (p,γ)^66Zn reaction below the neutron threshold.
