Upper Critical Fields Hc2 and Penetration Depths λ of YBa2Cu3-xZnxO7-δ Single Crystals

We have measured the upper critical fields and magnetic penetration depths of YBa2Cu3-xZnxO7-δ single crystals from the M(T, H) and p(T, H) with the magnetic field perpendicular to the CuO2 planes. Analyzing our data by using Hao-Clem model for M(T, H) and the fluctuation scaling law for p(T,H), we found that as Zn doping increases, the magnetic penetration depthλab(0) decreases and the Ginzburg-Landau parameter K decreases, which indicates the effective mass mab^‧ decreases with increasing Zn doping. The slope of upper critical fields –dHc2/dT from the magnetization versus magnetic field is consistent with the value obtained from the resistivity measurements.
