In this paper, we proposed a novel DBR (Distributed Bragg reflector)-in-grating structure to be used as the back reflector of thin film silicon solar cells. The DBR structure is substituted instead of one of grating refractive indices. The proposed structures have been optimized with selecting the best refractive indices in order to achieve the highest reflection and diffraction performance. Simulation results show that the efficiency of a silicon solar cell can reach to 22.04% by utilizing the proposed DBR-in-grating back reflector.
