Taiwan's ostrich industry is very small. In order to improve the development of the industry, it is necessary to understand production and marketing. A massive decline in the number of ostrich-raising farms occurred during 2002~2008. The main pattern of ostrich-raising is the vertical integration raising. With limited expansion in marketing, the development of the industry is facing a rigorous challenge. The estimator of raising technical efficiency is 0.648. The inefficiency caused by inadequately-used resources is 35.2%. This is mainly due to pure technical inefficiency and inefficiency of scale is another reason. Consequently, Taiwan's ostrich industry should build up the raising management model, reinforce the safety of meat and the management of refrigeration, investigate the consumption market for ostrich meat and expand marketing channels.
