The aim of this study was to promote oral health education for the caregivers in an institution which cares for handicapped people, An evaluation study was carried out based on changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of caregivers, Survey data were collected from caregivers before the educational intervention, immediately after the intervention, and 3 months after the intervention, All caregivers received 4 hours of training in oral hygiene instruction and 13 hours of teaching regarding clinical tooth brushing techniques by experts in Special Care Dentistry, Statistical methodology included the t-test, Chi-squared test, and multiple regression analysis, For data collected immediately after and 14 weeks after the oral hygiene educational program, statistically significant differences (p<0.0001) were demonstrated in caregivers' scores on oral hygiene knowledge and attitudes. The tooth brushing technique and frequency of tooth brushing of the caregivers also significantly improved, After a multiple regression analysis was performed, only the gender of the caregivers was related to changes in the caregivers' oral hygiene knowledge, On the other hand, changes in attitudes of the caregivers were mainly associated with the oral hygiene education program, and were not related to their backgrounds.
