After the NREN (National Research and Education Network) and the Nil (National Information Infrastructure) in U. S. are introduced, this work highlights, from the identified sources, the recent networking activities in America, Europe, Africa, and the Asian-Pacific region. It reports the current expansion of Internet connections in these continents. It then summarizes many concerns and solutions regarding to the development of the Nil and the Gil. Because of the rapid networking development, the swift expansion of Internet connections in many countries, and the feasible solutions recommended to solve many challenging issues, the work concludes that the Gil concept is being implemented and the new information age is dawn on the earth.
