公共圖書館的教育功能
The Educational Function of the Public Library

摘要
本文係從圖書館事業發展史的角度，探討公共圖書館從文化功能步入教育功能，教育目標始終沒有改變，即使公共圖書館有其他功能的擴張，但也是為達成教育目標。文化的功能除了保存文化遺產外，並不彰顯，惟有將教育的功能，視為履行其文化的角色，始能清楚定義文化的功能。

Education is the ultimate goal of the public library. Accordingly, the functions of the public library have been expanding from cultural function to educational function. This paper aims to discuss the process the public library has experienced to carry out its educational function. Apparently, cultural function cannot be clearly defined without the fulfillment of its educational role, in addition to the preservation of cultural heritage.
