Nasal Ala Pressure Sores: Easily Missed Complications of Nasotracheal Tube Intubation

並列摘要

Objective: Nasal ala pressure sores are rare complications of nasotracheal tube intubation during head and neck reconstruction surgery. The severity of the injury is usually minor and easily ignored. However, the complication is easily avoided. Materials and Methods: Four cases were reported in our review from October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999 at Tri-Service General Hospital. No nasal ala pressure sores were observed after we paid attention to this complication from October 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000. We also present a thorough review and discussion of this complication. Results: We found that nasal ala pressure sores could easily be avoided when preventive procedures were performed during nasotracheal tube intubation.
