Straddle Pelvic Stress Fracture in a Male Recruit

並列摘要

Stress fractures are common injuries in adult military recruits and civilian athletes. Most of these injuries occur in the lower extremities, including the femur, tibia or metatarsal bones. Stress fractures of the pelvis are uncommon injuries, accounting for only 1 % to 2 % of all stress fractures. In the few reported series of pelvic stress fractures, these injuries were noted to occur commonly in female long-distance runners. These injuries occur most often in the inferior pubic rami and less commonly in the superior pubic rami. As we know, fractures in all four pubic rami are called straddle fractures. A pelvic stress fracture involving all four of the pubic rami in male recruits is extremely rare. We present a case with bilateral groin and hips pain diagnosed as a straddle pelvic stress fracture successfully treated using symptomatic treatment.
