Iatrogenic Vesico-Acetabular Fistula during Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty-A Case Report

並列摘要

Iatrogenic bladder fistula following cemented total hip arthroplasty with septic loosening is a very rare complication and there have been very few cases reported in the literature. The intrusion of cement pegs into the pelvis cavity or the adherence of the bladder wall onto the inner surface of the pelvis during irradiation therapy might attribute to iatrogenic bladder fistula in spite of using careful surgical techniques. In this report, we present a case of iatrogenic bladder fistula which occurred during revision surgery for septic loosening. The bladder fistula was early recognized and successfully treated by urinary catherization, wound drainage and the use of effective antibiotics for 3 weeks.
