Treatment of the Comminuted Fractures of the Distal Radius with the Small AO External Fixator

並列摘要

The comminuted fractures of the distal radius requires early, accurate reduction and sustained maintaince of an anatomic position. This study had treated 34 fractures with closed reduction and rigid fixation with small AO/ASIF external fixator. They are followed up for 26 months in average. 32(92%) fractures have articular extension. Radiographs of 19 fractures (56%) showed Lindstrom’s classification Grade I and II, 9 fractures in Grade III and 4 fractures in Grade IV.85% of the patients has excellent and good functional result, 9% fair and 6% poor result. The range of motion of the affected wrists obtained a 79 to 86% of the control wrists. There were few pin tract infections and nerve irritation problems. Closed reduction and small AO/ASIF external fixation is useful method for the treatment of comminuted fractures of the distal radius.
