The optimal recovery for ACL injuried patient who received bone patellar tendon bone graft was evaluated through their isokinetic muscle strength and functional knee scorre under different rehabilitation protocols. Twenty four patients received bone patellar tendon bone graft were assigned randomly in to two groups. Group A with fourteen patients received the non-accelerated rehabilitation protocol and group B with twelve patients received the accelerated rehabilitation protocol. All patients were tested for their lower extremities’isokinetic muscle strength using Kin-Com 500H three months and six months after surgery. Lysholm knee score was also evaluated at three and six months after sugery. The results revealed quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength recovered to a near normal value at a earlier time of three month for the group B patients and the sound limb of the group B patients did not demonstrated as much muscle atrophy as it did in group A patients. These results shows that the accelerated rehabilitation protocol may be more beneficial for ACL injuried patients following reconstruction surgery. The hamstring isokinetic strength is noted to be a important factor for further step planning during the rehabilitation program
