We report a 24-year-old man with autosomal dominant osteopetrosis who had successful treatment of a femoral subtrochanteric fracture by open reduction and allografting but without internal fixation. We put the allograft around the fracture site and no internal fixation was given. After oeration, the patient was kept on bed rest with skin traction for 6weeks , followed by 6 months of partial weight bearing with crutches. Bone union and full recovery of normal physical activity were achieved three years later and no complication such as osteomyeli-tis developed.
