Bilateral Femoral Neck Fractures in Transient Osteoporosis of Pregnancy-A case Report

兩側股骨頸骨折發生於懷孕期之暫時性骨鬆症─病例報告

並列摘要

Transient osteoporosis of the hip is an uncommon disorder affecting primarily middle-aged men, or women during the third trimester of pregnancy. The disease is manifested by pain over the joint with temporary osteopenia on radiograophy. Magnetic resonance (MR) images of the affected joint will show increased joint fluid and diffuse signal abnormalities, decreased signal intensity on T1-weighted images and increased signal intensity on T2-weighted images. It is a self-limited disorder with complete resolution of the symptoms after 6-12 months. The exact cause remains unclear. Pathologic fracture of the femoral neck was thought to be the most serious complication. This paper presents the case of a 33-year-old woman with bilateral displaced subcapital fractures of the hip during the 33rd week of her first pregnancy. She was treated conservatively at first. After delivering baby in the 38th week of gestation, operation was carried out 13 days later. Three cannulated screws were inserted into both hips to anchor the fracture site. Progressive union of the fracture sites was noted during 6 months follow-up.
