The main purpose of this study was to explore research trends in the Journal of Leisure Research from 1999 to 2003. The study reviewed 138 articles during the past five years. The results showed that there were several major research trends in the journal, such as the issues of gender, leisure experience, fees, race, crowding, leisure participation, motivations, constraints and health. The study also proposed some suggestions for future studies.
