Clinical Teaching in Physical Therapy Education in Taiwan

摘要


臨床實習是物理治療教育中非常重要的一環,隨著近幾年物理治療學系的設置,愈來愈多的物理治療臨床工作者將擔任臨床指導老師的工作。本研究之目的在探討當前物理治療實習指導老師之選譯條件及其行為(溝通技巧、人際關係、專業技術及教學能力)並提供參考給現任或未來之臨床指導老師。所有 (11所)物理治療實習醫院之相關負責人及大多數臨床指導老師接受電話訪問有關臨床老師選擇條件及其背景;指導老師之行為標準則由問卷調查物理治療實習學生。結果發現:1.物理治療臨床工作者不足,尤其缺乏資深者,導至臨床指導老師選譯困難。2.在四大項行為中,專業技術及教學能力分別落入最高分及最低分。3.在所有問卷題目中,最低分的兩項為臨床指導老師對學生承受之挫折與憂慮的支詩及臨床實習與學術課程之連貫性。此三點可做為將來臨床實習及參與者改善之方向。

Clinical education is essential to a complete training of entry-level physical therapists. Moue and Moue physical therapy clinicians will take the responsibility of clinical instructors (CI) as the number of physical therapy program has increased in the last few years. The purpose of this study was to reveal the current clinical education in forms of the qualification of CI's and their behavior (ie. communication, interpersonal relations, professional skill, and teaching) to provide directions for the current and future CI's. The selection criteria and background of CI's were investigated by telephone interviews of all (11) of the chief of the physical therapy clinical education centers and 52 out of 57 CI's in Taiwan. A questionnarie survey of the rating of behaviors of CI's from students' purspective was also conducted. The results show that 1) there is a shortage of physical therapy clinicians especially were experienced ones. This causes difficulties in the selection of CI's. 2) Among the four categouies of CI's behaviors, the professional skill and teaching were rated the highest and the lowest respectively. 3) Among all the questions, the lowest ratings were given to ”the support for the frustration and concerns of the student's” and ”clinical education as a consistent extension of the academic program”. These two issues may be the direction for improvement in the future.
