This study analyzes the discourses, patterns and limitations of science news in three major newspapers in Taiwan. The results show clear differences between patterns of these science news reports and society's technological orientation. Moreover, the news reports mainly focus on a lower process of science production and social influence domain, which relatively miss the report on high-level science issues. Furthermore, there are also high frequency uses of translation reports. To improve the current situation, the researchers suggest to promote the development of domain science communication environment and encourage the interdisciplinary research of science communication. By doing so, we may enhance the ”scientific literacy” and ”media literacy” of all the citizens at the same time.
