The Function of Market Force on City Development in China

The thesis discusses that the market force influence the urban development in china, from the formation of city and evolution of urban space structure in history. And it also expounds the urban development under the two different economic systems of completely planned economy and planned market economy, and the two systems influence the urban growth, after the People's Republic of China was built. The market force is one of the most important reasons to push on this reform of system, and further carries forward that the market system is built in P.R.China. Because the economic system in china has changed significantly, the urban development is facing new policies and problems. Thus the traditionary theories and methods of urban planning must be reformed to adjust theneeds of urban development under new system.
