MRI and CT Images of Toluone Encephalopathy

甲苯造成中樞神經病變之電腦斷層及磁振造影之影像

摘要

因吸食強力膠所致之慢性中樞神經病變並不少見，但在台灣卻很少被注意到。我們觀察三位因吸食強力膠引起慢性中樞神經病變病人的電腦斷層及磁振造影影像，有以下的發現：
一、大腦、小腦及腦幹有明顯的萎縮。
二、在磁振造影(T2W1)影像中，可見大腦白質及內囊後肢訊號增強，而兩邊視丘訊號降低。吾人回顧其文獻資料並針對其致病機轉做一探討。

Findings by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT)in the brains of three glue sniffers with chronic toluene encephalopathy are described. Abnormalities included (1) diffuse cerebral, cerebellar and brain stem atrophy on CT and MR images; (2) on MRI, increased signal intensity in the centrum semiovale; and (3) high signal intensity of the posterior limb of the internal capsule; and (4) decreased signal intensity of both thalami on T2WI. Chronic toluene encephalopathy in glue sniffers is not uncommon. However, it has not previously been reported in Taiwan. The CT and MR images were compared, and a review of the literature is included.
