This paper was focused on the thermal degradation and combustion behavior of crosslink polyamide 6. The flame retarded crosslink polyamide 6 masterbatches were prepared by adding halogen free flame retardant and crosslinking agent in thermal twin screw extruder system. The evaluation of thermal gravity analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and limiting oxygen index (LOl) for flame retarded crosslink polyamide 6 were also studied. The results exhibited that the char forming ratio was increased as increasing the crosslink agent. The forming of char layer for polyamide 6 upon the combustion could hinder the fire spreading. The high crosslink structure of polyamide 6 is benefit to the polyamide 6 in flame retard application.
