This paper conducts a review and analysis of the role of family professionals in building family policy in the United States. In order to facilitate the review and analysis, the roles examined in this study are partitioned into the following five categories of family professional: research, evaluation, advocacy, education and impact. This study finds that linkage between each role is crucial in shaping family-care policy as well as the institutional programs that support family life in the U.S.
