在國民小學實施STS教育之合作行動研究

A Cooperative Action Research on the Implementation of STS Education in Primary Schools

摘要


本研究目的旨在探究STS教育在我國國民小學實施的可能途徑並嘗試透過教師與研究者合作行動研究方式將理念付諸實踐。在為期將近兩年的研究歷程中,研究者以一個學習者的立場,從參與行動中反思、學習嘗試建立對於研究論題更周延的理解。 本研究採取合作行動研究方法,研究小組在八十四年九月初組成;成員包括研究者與多位(7-11位)現職國民小學教師,在研究期間小組成員定期聚會共同學習、分享經驗與解決問題,參與研究教師並在個別學校中進行基於STS教育理念的教學改進行動研究。經由此一研究過程中獲得以下重要結果: 一、由實踐中發現STS教育理念可以提供國民小學教師一個良好的教學改進的參照架構來結合教師個人的信念、專長、經驗與情境,促進實際科學教學的改進與教師專業的成長。 二、本研究中顯示在國民小學實踐STS教育理念的具體行動途程包括:在假期科學研習活動中實施、在學校團體活動中實施與融合在一般學校正式課程中實施等。 三、對於如何透過研究者與教師的合作行動研究,來促使STS教育理念的實踐與教師自發、持續的教學改進與成長,提供了具體的實踐實例,並分析所遭遇問題。 四、對於如何實踐STS教育理念以改進的我國國民小學科學教育未來努力方向提出具體的建議。

The purpose of this study was to explore possible ways of implementing STS education in primary schools. Through cooperative action research carried out with participating teachers, the researcher attempted to put the ideas about STS into practice. The research group, consisted of 7-11 primary school teachers and the researcher, adopted a cooperative action inquiry approach to collect and to analyze data for more than two years. Members of the group, sharing common interests and expectations of improving teaching, met periodically to discuss problems encountered when STS activities were implemented in school contexts and to develop feasible problem-solving strategies. The results of this study were as follows: (1) STS was shown to provide a good frame of reference for primary school teachers to integrate their personal beliefs, expertise, experiences, and the contexts they were in to improve their science teaching and professional development; (2) It was shown in this study that STS education can be implemented in primary schools through a number of different ways, such as to hold science workshops during vacations, to carry it out as extra curriculum activities, or to blend it into formal science class instructions. (3) As a cooperative action research, this study provided a concrete example for the implementation of STS and strong motivation for teachers to improve their teaching and professional development. Practical problems encountered were also analyzed. (4) Some feasible ways to put STS into practice in classroom contexts to improve science education at primary schools were suggested.
