Neurilemmoma is not uncommon in the head and neck. However its occurrence in the oral cavity is very rare, especially at the base of the tongue. A 15-year-old female patient had potato-voice and lump sensation at right throat for years. A painless, ovoid, soft, 3×2.5cm mass was noted on right side of the tongue base . The tumor was excised via MLS with CO2 laser. After surgery, no swallowing, phonation, or focal neurological deficits were noted. The pathology report showed a neurilemmoma. The postoperative course was uneventful. Neurilemmoma is seldom considered in differential diagnosis of tongue base tumors. Diagnosis is often difficult until the definitive histology is reported. Total excision of the lesion is usually curative, and the neurilemmoma seldom becomes malignant.
