This paper consists of some observations on the Confucian Conception of Life through two groups of concepts. The first group includes hsin, hsing, li and the second group ts'ai, ch'ing, ch'i The Confucians employ these concepts to represent the two different dimensions of life: the first group represents the moral life und the second the physico-psychological life respectively. On one hand, the rational principles of life, namely, hsin hsing li, could be realized merely through the physico-psychological principles. On the other hand, the latter group most be guided and regulated by the former. However, the convergence of both groups on the achievement of the ethical, the humanistic, and the natural worlds it, exactly the essential concern of Confucianism. As the conclusive remarks, the expression of life in the four dynasties, Han, Tang, Song, Ming, will be gives a synthetic evaluation.
