本論文探討中國瓷器上以「西廂記」故事為題材的圖案之應用、與戲曲藝術發展的關係及其表現特色與演變。本文的論述依時代先後分成四個時期進行,在每一個時期皆詳細探討《西廂記》戲曲在當時的傳播情況,選取具代表性瓷器作品,分析其美術表現特色,並將之與《西廂記》戲曲藝術做對照與對比。對於其它種類的相關美術作品,如繪畫與版畫也加以討論,作為析論的輔佐資料。 本論文發現瓷器上的《西廂記》紋飾之內容、題材及表現方式,隨著不同時期《西廂記》戲曲文學及舞台表演之發展而有所變化。將《西廂記》戲曲藝術之傳播與瓷器紋飾作對比及對照的研究,一方面可以協助我們辨認裝飾圖案的題材、內容,梳理紋飾在不同時期的演變,另一方面也可以幫助我們了解,形成各個時期紋飾之圖像特色的文化背景。
This paper studies the application of scenes from The Romance of The Western Chamber on Chinese porcelain, and compares its development to the progress of this drama in performance and in literature. The discussion of this paper is divided into four chronological periods and is discussed in that sequence. In each period characteristics of porcelain decoration relating to this aspect are summarized and examined. By means of comparing and contrasting porcelain decoration to the development of this drama in literature and performance, as well as other artistic media, its characteristics in representation as well as the relationships between drama and porcelain decoration are inspected and asserted. Studies in this paper demonstrate that the development of the representation of The Romance of the Western Chamber on Chinese porcelain is closely related to historical progress of imagery and style of this drama. However, features special to the porcelain decoration and those related to this medium alone also can be discerned.
