A combined qualitative methodology of phenomenology and grounded theory was used to explore life experience with neurotic disorder, focusing on the perspectives of five neurotic patients and their spouses. Two essential dimensions, ”life space field” and ”operational process”,were identified through content analysis of interview data transcribde verbatim. The ”life space field”dimension can reveal which of the family systems is most concerned. The ”operational process” disclose how the clients deal with problems. The findings in this study are recommended as both a clinical reference for family nursing and a basis for future family-oriented reseach efforts.
