This research was designed as a quasi-experimental study. Three hundred and forty-four breast- feeding puerperas were recruited from a teaching hospital. The subjects were divided into experimental group I and group II. In group I, teaching about the problems and management of breast-feeding was provided in accordance to the subjects’ condition. In group II, the systemic health teaching was served before the related issues occured. This study intended to understand how the different health teaching methods were related to the subjects’ emotional disturbance within one week or at one month after delivery, and their feeding methods one month after delivery. The results showed: (1) there was no difference between the two groups in the subjects’ emotional disturbance one week after delivery; (2) the experimental group I had less concern about three factors: “whether breast-feeding may cause disadvantage of mother and baby”, “whether she can feed her baby smoothly”, and “whether the baby can get good quality and quantity of human milk”. We also found that (3) the health teaching content was not related to the puerperas’ feeding methods one month after delivery and (4) the subjects’ emotional disturbance was significantly related to their one-month-after-delivery feeding methods.
