Nursing is a human science. Phenomenology is a philosophy and a methodology of inquiry in the discipline of nursing. Phenomenology represents a scientific knowledge mainly construed from the subjective experience of insiders. The purpose is to investigate a particular lived experience and to research the essential structure of phenomena. In this paper, the nature of human lived experience, self-consciousness, and intentionality of phenomenological perspectives are discussed. The principles of phenomenological reduction are elaborated. Nevertheless, the integration of Phenomenological principles and methodology is represented by a writing protocol. The major concerns of data collection, reliability, validity and data analysis of the research procedure are also illustrated.
