A Discourse on Jade Culture Manifested in a Jade Exhibition

摘要

玉文化是中華文化史上相當重要的篇章之一，在2009年7月間馬來西亞為慶祝「全國華人文化節」，應砂拉越華族文化協會(Sarawak Chinese Cultural Association)的邀請，淡江大學歷史學系在砂拉越州詩巫市(Sibu)舉辦「中華玉器文化特展」，本文藉此玉展120組件的玉器，以宏觀的歷史角度，析論八千年來玉器發展所賦予特定因素，之與世俗文化交相輝映的人文美學，從而驗證了古來尊玉愛玉的民族情懷，也因而窺悉玉器之美不但流芳萬古，即使當代賞析也歷久彌新。

Jade culture plays a very significant role in Chinese culture. ”The Exhibition Highlights-Civilization Unveiled from Archaic Chinese Jades”, presented by the Department of History, Tamkang University, was invited to participate in the Chinese Culture Festivals in Sibu, Malaysia in July, 2009 by Sarawak Chinese Culture Association.
This article analyzed the intrinsically historical, developing characteristics of 8000-year Chinese jade culture from a macroscopic, historical viewpoint through the 120 pieces of Chinese jade displayed in the Exhibition Highlights. Both the human esthetics accompanying the jade culture and the spirit of appreciating the jade culture are also discussed. The beauty of jade is endless and timeless.
