Occupational Asthma Among Tile Brick Manufacturers
摘要
Two cases of occupational asthma were found in a tile brick manufacturing factory. These two patients were from the same tile brick manufacturing factory. One patient has been employed in the factory for six years. He worked in the molding section. He developed asthma before two years ago. Another patient was employed as glaze buring for six years. Since five years ago, he experienced asthma and was treated regularly at the local clinic. When they went back to work, asthmatic reaction attacked again and again. In the past, dust were considered to be the greatest hazard in the brick industry. Pneumoconiosis such as silicosis has been reported to be prevalent in the fire brick industry. Occupational asthma has never been reported in the brick industry in Taiwan. Thus, the occurrence of a case of occupational asthma is a sentinel health event indicating the need for public health intervention.
