This research examined the current and desired compensation of Taipei City social workers by using the questionnaire method. After analyzing the 118 valid questionnaires, the researcher found that there is a difference of NT$3,500 between the average salary of social workers with a university bachelor degree, and those with a master degree, while there is an average difference of NT$6,000 between the actual salary of respondents and their ideal, desired compensation. Furthermore, 90% of respondents agree that the issue of salary of social works should be given greater attention. There are about 1/3 of respondents think that the minimum wage for social workers is too low and 1/4 of respondents believe there are limited opportunities for yearly increases of salary. In terms of the degree of satisfaction towards their salary, the respondents were relatively divided in their opinions. Researcher further discusses the results of the survey in this paper with the hope to attract greater attention to the issue of compensation of social workers.
