In nursing practice, individual's perception of the structure, function and the appearance of body can be influenced by disease and the process of treatment. Nurses have to be highly sensitive to assess the patient's body image disturbance during individual care. The purpose of this study was using the method outlined by Walker and Avant to analyze the concept of body image disturbance. This concept analysis is to determine the defining attributes, to construct model, related, borderline, and contrary cases, and identify antecedents and consequences. Empirical references are also outlined. This analysis may be useful not only to nursing practice but also to developing research projects.
