Gingival recession is a highly prevalent problem across all age groups and not only does it affects dentine hypersensitivity, it also reduces the patient's quality of life. In some cases, patients with a deep smile line experience a poor aesthetic appearance due to the presence of gingival recession affecting the buccal side of the posterior teeth. Available studies have shown that gingival recession can be successfully treated by root coverage surgery. On the other hand, very few studies have been carried out up to the present involving the treatment of recession that affects the posterior teeth. This case report focuses on the combined application of a coronally advanced flap and a subepithelial connective tissue graft for the treatment of patients whose posterior teeth are affected by gingival recession and furcation involvement. The results show that optimal root coverage and an improvement in furcation involvement can be obtained following 6 months of mucogingival treatment.
