多元入學醫學生之學習表現

Academic Performance of National Taiwan University Medical Students from Diversified College Entrance Systems

摘要


隨著教育改革的趨勢,自1990年代起國內各大學院校已積極開始研議多元入學機制之可行性,本研究旨在探討藉由不同多元入學管道進入醫學系就讀之醫學生,學習狀況及學業成就表現是否有差異。本研究採用追溯性研究,以1994年至1997年進入台灣大學醫學系之醫學生為研究對象,依入學管道之不同分為「推薦甄選」、「僑生」、「一般生」三組,藉由收集研究對象分別於2001年至2004年之畢業年度總成績與畢業排名,進行統計分析。結果發現2001年與2003年之三組畢業醫學生於學業成績表現上有顯著差異,兩兩比較又發現「推薦甄選」入學之醫學生其畢業學業成績分別顯著高於「僑生」與「一般生」。在生活適應方面,「推薦甄選」入學之醫學生在學期間中未發生適應不良、行為異常或遭退學之個案,「僑生」與「一般生」則分別有l位及5位的醫學生於學習過程或生活上產生適應障礙之現象。本研究發現推薦甄選入校就讀之醫學生在整體學業成績表現上較傳統考試分發之學生成績較佳,變異性較小,學習過程也較有多元性。而且甄選入學制之公平性亦為社會所接受,所以,推薦甄選的招生方式是值得推薦給各醫學院作為招收醫學生之參考。

Since 1990 the universities in Taiwan have advocated diversified college entrance systems in response to calls for education reform. The purpose of this retrospective study is to monitor the academic performance of medical students from diversified college entrance systems. Medical students admitted to National Taiwan University from 1994 to 1997 were investigated. They were divided into three groups of ”recommended”, ”overseas Chinese” and ”conventional”, according to the different methods of college entrance. The medical students' academic performance data in graduation years 2001 to 2004 were collected and sent for statistical analysis. We found that there were significant differences in the performances of the three sets of medical students who had graduated in 2001 and 2003. After multiple comparisons, the academic achievements of the ”recommended” medical students was seen to be significantly better than the ”overseas Chinese” and ”conventional” medical students. In the ”recommended” medical students group, no medical students were found to have abnormal behavior, poor social adaptation or had dropped out of school. However, these phenomena occurred in several medical students in the ”overseas Chinese” and ”conventional” groups. Also the ”recommended” students showed less variation in their academic records, more flexibility in their study plans and more active lifestyles, with better adaptation. In addition, the fairness of the ”recommended” system has been accepted by society, and so it deserves to be recommended to other medical schools.
