摘要

精神疾病的危險因子包含生物、藥理、家庭、社會以及環境等層面，而許多家族、孿生子之遺傳研究亦強調遺傳因素的重要性。現今對於精神疾病的研究趨勢逐漸從症狀學轉向生化、認知以及遺傳因素進行探討，且隨著和疾病相關之遺傳知識的不斷累積以及生物科技的日益精進，遺傳流行病學逐漸發展，從遺傳與流行病學的角度來探討精神疾病的致病原因，以發展更有效的治療方式，並冀望在疾病初發之前即能作好事先的預防。本文旨在對於精神遺傳流行病學幾個觀點作一介紹，並藉由一些研究的結果舉例說明，讓讀者對於精神疾病的遺傳基因、認知功能、人格特質等各種遺傳機制有不同的認識，並進一步瞭解遺傳與環境之間的交互作用。

Risk factors for psychiatric disorders include biological, pharmacological, familial, social and environmental dimensions. The importance of genetic vulnerability has been emphasized by many family and twin studies. Recently, the focus of psychiatric research has shown a gradual change from symptomatology to biochemical, cognitive, and genetic factors. The field of psychiatric genetic epidemiology has developed from the accumulation of genetic data and advances in microbiological techniques. Information obtained from psychiatric genetic epidemiology is now showing promise in applications for effective treatment and prevention psychiatric illnesses. The aim of this article is to review the main perspectives of psychiatric genetic epidemiology and to provide several illustrative examples for readers of various genetic diatheses as they relate to cognitive function, personality characteristics, as well as to the interaction of genetic and environmental factors.
