Road Accident Death Prediction Using a Combined Markov Chain and GM (1,1) Model

The reliability prediction model has been widely studied in many research fields to evaluate and improve product and system reliability. Traditionally, in order to establish the prediction model, a large number of testing data is needed. Therefore, it is often difficult to carry out this test and sometimes it is even not feasible due to cost consideration. In this paper, in order to realize the accurate prediction with small number of data sets, the grey model based on grey system theory is proposed to establish the reliability model. In addition, the cubic spline function is integrated into the grey model to enhance embedded GM (1, 1), a single variable first order grey model, prediction capability. We validated the effectiveness of the proposed model by using fault data sets of electric product in manufacturing industry.
