資訊系統開發(ISD)是一個人力與知識密集的工作,「協調」一直被視為是ISD過程中,影響專案績效的重要因素。為瞭解團隊績效的前置因素,本文剖析ISD團隊協調機制與專業知識協調之關連,並探討其對於團隊績效之影響。進一步地瞭解ISD團隊專業知識協調,在不同的問題解決情況下,對於專案績效的影響。本研究以從事ISD共41個團隊為研究對象,採用結構方程模式來驗證所提出的理論模型。研究結果顯示,ISD團隊協調機制對於專業知識協調有顯著影響;專業知識協調對於團隊績效亦具有顯著影響。另外,問題解決在專業知識協調對於團隊績效影響過程中具有干擾效果,再者協調機制亦會透過專業知識協調間接地影響團隊績效。可見,資訊系統開發過程中應促進團隊成員之專業知識協調與問題解決,以期提升團隊的績效,實證結果可提供ISD團隊提升專案績效之參考。
Information Systems Development (ISD) is a labor- and knowledge-intensive task, and coordination in ISD has long been acknowledged as an important ingredient for the successful performance of software projects. In order to understand the antecedents of team performance, this research investigates the relationship between coordination mechanisms and expertise coordination in ISD teams and team performance. Further, this study explores how the expertise of ISD team members in regard to IS development coordination, along with the level of problem solving self-efficiency and skills, is related to the ultimate performance of a project. Survey data collected from 41 ISD teams were examined using structural equation modeling in order to verify the proposed theoretical model. The results indicated that coordination mechanisms have a significant impact on expertise coordination, and also suggested that developer expertise coordination has a significant impact on ISD team performance. Problem solving was shown to moderate the process by which expertise coordination influences project performance. Coordination mechanisms were shown to indirectly influence project performance through a key mediating link: expertise coordination. We conclude that the more coordination and problem solving interaction there is, the more successful a project's performance will be. The research results further illuminate the factors that explain and predict the performance of ISD teams. The implications of the findings are discussed and suggestions for future research are presented.
