The official document entitled ”Learning to Learn-The Way Forward in Curriculum Development”, published by the Hon Kong Curriculum Development Council (CDC) on the strategies of curriculum development, recommends: ”ensures coherence across Key Learning Areas/subjects ”. Cross-Key Learning Areas studies also allow students to see things from different perspectives” (CDC, 2001, p.24). By reviewing the primary school education in Hong Kong, the author concludes that curriculum integration is not a new issue in Hong Kong; and by looking forward, there are many challenges to the implementation. Critical factors that influence the new path of curriculum integration include ”daily-life learning in integrated curriculum”, ”student-centered curriculum integration”, and ”participation of professional teachers”.
