This paper examines China studies in Korea, Korean scholars' comments on this academic discipline of about 30 years, and particularly the disputes related to epistemology and academic disciplines. We interviewed Korean scholars on China, compare their researches in the 1990s with their works after 2000 in both quality and quantity, and analyze the main subjects in these studies. The interviewees also discuss the identity as researchers on China. Finally, this paper touches on the positioning of sinology in Korea and how it benefits Korea.
