Pacing Strategy during 1, 500-Meter Race

1,500-meter race requires a combination of anaerobic and aerobic capacity and thus the runner needs both speed and endurance. To explore the characteristics of 1,500-meter race, this paper analyzes relevant documents of 1,500-meter race and concluded with four important points in the following description: 1. The speed in each 400-meter lap should be stable. 2. The average speed of the first three laps should be the same as the last 300 meters. 3. The speed of the first lap and the last lap should have a difference in one or two seconds. 4. The pace in most of the races is slower at the beginning and faster at the final stage, this is especially obvious in the last lap. In analyzing the male 1,500-meter run in world major races, it is found that there is a difference with the ideal distribution of speed. In every section of the distance, it's hard to reach a consistency of the speed. The fastest speed is found in the first 400 meters and the last 500 meters. The slowest speed is usually between 400 meters and 800 meters, indicated that it is usually allocated in the middle stage of the race. Most of the runners started their sprinting from 800 meters, the long lasting sprint capacity of the athletes is the critical factor to win a 1,500-meter race.
