男性性別意識之形成

摘要

台灣男性研究的出現還不到十年的時間，針對男人性別意識所進行的學術研究更是闕如。本論文即企圖理解處在一個性別歧視的父權社會中的男性如何去關心性別議題，進而形成性別意識。本研究訪談了19位參與性別課程與活動的男性，發現男性性別意識形成主要的根源分別是：1.傳統男性角色的束縛與壓迫，2.女性的受歧視與受壓迫經驗，3.重視平等價值的成長經驗。然而受壓迫的處境必須要有女性主義論述來解讀。至於男人是否持續參與性別論述與運動，則是針對：1.男性／個人利益，2.關係利益，3.政治利益，這幾種利害關係權衡的結果。這七個面向，並沒有一種固定的線性關係，而是彼此相互影響。性別意識形成歷程就在此互動關係下不斷進展，永無休止。

Men's studies have a very short history in Taiwan; moreover, research on men's gender consciousness has been neglected. This study aims to explore how men are concerned with and involved in gender issues in a patriarchal society. By interviewing nineteen men, we found that men's gender consciousness originates from their experiences of 1) the constraint and domination of traditional masculinity, 2) women's experiences of discrimination and oppression, 3) a democratic and equal environment. However, their daily experiences need feminist discourses to be interpreted. Men's pursuit of gender equity is a matter of personal politics by considering the interrelationship among 1) personal interest, 2) relational interest, and 3) political interest. These seven facets are intertwined without a linear progression. Hence, gender consciousness is constantly evolving without a fixed origin and end.
