This project was to improve the method of restraint by using action research. In one hospital nursing home, almost one half to two-third residents who are bedridden need the assistance for ADLs. It was important to develop a safe and beautiful restraint band for the resident to sit in the wheelchair. The steps of action research included reflection, planning, action, and evaluation. Then a restrain of vest dressing was created. A commercial manufactory was interested in this product. We hoped this study would inspire more creativities for long-term care providers.
