臺灣長期照顧機構外籍監護工華語教學種子教師之經驗分析

A Study of Language Teaching for the Foreign Care Givers in the Taiwanese Long Term Care Facilities

摘要


語言為是人類溝通之重要橋樑,為融入社會重要媒介,亦為外籍監護工來臺後人際互動之重要工具。外籍監護工協助機構內失能老人的日常生活照顧,在互動過程中常受限於語言能力,影響溝通的品質,間接影響住民對外籍監護工的認同及互動。本研究旨在探討機構藉由合作學習方式,結合機構主任或社工人員擔任華語種子教師,協助外籍監護工有系統的學習華語,以增進溝通能力。本文針對臺北市八家參與華語教學課程的長期照顧機構,探討種子教師在機構內執行華語教學過程所經歷的問題及困境,進而分析未來教學的改善機制,並藉此方案發展出適用於各長期照顧機構需求的華語學習教材。結果發現,種子教師認為影響外籍監護工語言學習重要因素有四:(一)機構對外籍監護工的角色、功能與期待會影響介入之深度;(二)語言教學技術上之克服;(三)回應外籍監護工異質性之挑戰;(四)透過「華語讀書會」機制之建立,鼓勵持續學習,增進互動。機構聘用外籍監護工首先面臨的挑戰即為華語的溝通能力,經此華語教學課程之介入,除能提升外籍監護工的語言及溝通能力外,對於機構內的團隊分工及整合亦能有所促進,連帶影響其工作適應,未來可持續推廣此模式,做為提升外籍監護工人力資源之具體策略。

The language is an important bridge of the communication, it is also a important verbal skill for the foreign care givers. The role of foreign care givers in the Taiwanese long term care facilities is to provide life assistant of residents, unfortunately, the functions of role is restricted in the language communication process, moreover, sometime neglects the demand of residents due to the language communication problem, the residents therefore hold the negative manner to the foreign care givers. The aim of this research is to explore the improvement of skill in Chinese listen, speaking, reading and writing of the foreign care givers after the cooperating learning program. It is also to discover the improvement of care quality of long term care facility after this project. The research results revealed that the four main factors influence language learning are: (1) to define the role and function of foreign care giver; (2) to overcome the language teaching technology; (3) to face the challenge of culture difference, turnover and attitude of foreign care giver; (4) encourages foreign care giver to obtain the Chinese language license. This research results also indicated that foreign care givers' language and communication ability have the obvious promotion after cooperating learning program. Therefore, this project is a success model for Taiwanese long term care facilities in promotion foreign human resource management in the future.
