This article describes a home nursing experience of a family of a bed-ridden patient with stroke. The family caregiver suffered from increasing caregiving burden due to increasing needs of the patient and aging of the caregiver herself. This case report was based on home nursing visits during October 5th, 2011 to December 14th, 2011. The author collected the data via assessment, interviews and observation during eight times home visits. We identified four major family caregiver's needs: (1) inadequate caregiving skills to continuously take care of patients; (2) unable to take care of oneself due to competing needs; (3) inadequate knowledge about social resources. After delivering the interventions to facilitate the utilization of long term care resources in the community, family caregiver's burden was successfully decreased. The nursing experience for this family can provided as a reference for future care of families in similar situation.
