The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Transtheoretical Model (TTM) by the intervention of brisk walking for female college students with high body fat. Thirty female students (percentage body fat>30%) were recruited in the stage of ”precontemplation”, ”contemplation” and ”preparation”. The experiment group (n=12) received 6-weeks brisk walking intervention (30~40 min, 3~5 times per week), while the control group (n=18) didn't receive any intervention. Exercise behavior determinants such as perceived exercise benefit、perceived exercise barrier、exercise self-efficacy and obesity indicators such as percentage body fat、waist-hip-raio and body mass index were measured on baseline, 6th week, and 14th week. The results revealed that significant and positive changes on perceived exercise benefit, perceived exercise barrier, exercise self-efficacy, percentage body fat, waist-hip-raio for the experiment group on 6th week, while no significant difference in the control group. The results verified that all exercise behavior determinants of TTM were different among different stages of change. Regular exercises play an important role on weight-loss and health benefit maintenance. This result is useful as a reference for designing exercise intervention to female college students with high body fat in the future.
