This article describes an experience in providing nursing care for a patient with thoracic spinal stenosis and ankylosing spondylitis. The patient received nursing care from May 8 to June 7, 2006. Assessed with Gordon function health status model, the patient was under physiological and psychological stress and exhibited health problems including constipation, sleep pattern disturbance, impaired physical mobility, and powerlessness. Nursing care for this patient focused on maintaining physical activities and availing himself social, religious, and spiritual resources. Eventually, the patient bravely faced his disease and began to adapt to his new life with limited limb morbidity.
