Applying Traditional Paper Cutting into Cultural Creative Design Model

The generation of traditional papercutting is profoundly influenced by Chinese cultural thoughts, and the unique characteristic foundation behind is the core of papercutting art. In terms of the modern art as well as design trends and themes, more diverse and extensive attention should be given. To this end, traditional papercutting art needs to keep up with the times, guiding consumers to traverse ancient and modern cultures for communication and exchanges through a systematic design model, and achieving the goal of cultural product value adding. In view of this motivation and adhering to the concept of "culture as the goal, papercutting as the subject, innovation as the purpose, and model as the result", the objective of this research is to specifically construct a systematic and sequential product design model to guide papercutting art and bring new life. In this regard, there are two steps for constructing a cultural product design model: 1. Literature analysis method: Formulate product design procedures and steps through analyses and inductions, with a focus on "cultural connotations" of papercutting; 2. Scholar Gooding's theory research method: Establish a visual presentation procedure model according to the research patterns and cultural mechanisms. With it as a guide assisting the model in exploring the various dimensions of the design field, the integration and construction of the dimensions will definitely enrich the product design contents with greater significance, because it is where the value of a complete design lies and is distinguished from our stereotyped impression of traditional papercutting.
