台灣與美國學齡前兒童於兒童動作測驗組表現之比較

Comparison of the Performance of Preschoolers from Taiwan and USA in the Movement Assessment Battery for Children

摘要


背景與目的:兒童動作測驗組(Movement Assessment Battery for Children, Movement ABC)廣泛被歐美國家用於評量兒童的動作協調問題。本研究的目的乃在比較台灣與美國學齡前兒童在兒童動作測驗組測驗的表現,同時探討此測驗是否適用於台灣學齡前兒童。方法:樣本共有來自台南市公私立幼稚園4至6歲兒童400位,在兒童就讀之幼稚園進行一對一施測。施測結果與兒童動作測驗組常模中493位4至6歲美國兒童做比較,利用變異數分析(ANOVA)來檢驗兩個地區兒童表現的差異。結果:結果顯示台灣兒童在手部精細動作與動靜態平衡活動上的表現明顯較好,而美國兒童則較擅長於丟、接物體。台灣兒童在測驗的總體成績也明顯優於美國兒童常模。結論:雖然本研究的樣本無法推論至台灣全體學齡前兒童,但研究結果顯示台灣兒童若欲使用此測驗,修訂部分項目或建立台灣常模是有其必要性,以正確地反應兒童的動作協調能力。

Background and purposes: The Movement Assessment Battery for Children (Movement ABC) is widely used throughout the world in the evaluation of children with motor coordination problems. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of children from Taiwan and the States, and to investigate the appropriateness of the test for use with Taiwanese children. Methods: The performance of 400 children aged 4 to 6 years from Tainan city was compared with that of 493 American children from the original standardization sample. Each child were tested individually in an appropriate room in his or her school. Results: All Results show that there were cross-cultural differences on most of the items. Children from Taiwan performed significantly better on most of the manual dexterity and balance tasks. American children were better on the ball skills tasks. The overall total scores of children from Tainan city were also better than American children. Conclusion: Although the samplings make it difficult to generalize our results to Taiwanese children and other age band of this test, the results of this study suggest that the norms for the test or some of the items may need adjustment for use with Tainan children.
