The main purpose of this study was to analyze the attack pattern and attack skills performance of Wu Jing-Yu, who was female taekwondo gold medalist in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Video observation system was used to analyze the skill in this study. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and paired t-test. Results: 1. Type of player: Wu Jing-Yu was an active and passive attacker, and the right front foot was her lead attack foot for scoring. 2. Body parts: The highest attack and scoring rates were the roundhouse and downward kicks on middle and upper body of her opponent, respectively. The attack pattern and attack technique in active attack and passive attack: The left foot back roundhouse kicks and right front foot roundhouse kicks were Wu Jing-Yu’s main attack techniques. In addition, right foot forward roundhouse kicks and left back foot roundhouse kicks were her attack styles. 3. Scoring pattern: The scoring of attack pattern and technique, whenever active or passive, it was right foot forward as her winning standing posture. Her main scoring winning techniques were right front foot roundhouse kick and downward kick. 4. Losing attack pattern: In all kinds of attack patterns, the highest losing point was active back foot attack. The main tactic losing to her opponents were leading right back foot roundhouse kick and left foot downward attack in active attack. Conclusion: 1. keep an appropriate distance from her to avoid front foot kicks when combat; 2. the better standing posture would be left foot forward, enabling to take right back foot attack; 3. the better attack opportunity for her would be right foot forward; 4. sideways attacks were recommended after active or passive attacks. This study can be a reference for the training in technique and tactics for our female taekwondo athletes.
